God moves sovereignly

Sometimes God moves sovereignly, giving you neither notice nor explanation. Other times He moves only in answer to prayer.

Thank God for knowledge and ability, but some things only happen when we ‘give ourselves continually to prayer.’ (Acts 6:4 NKJV) The Bible says God would have destroyed Israel ‘had not Moses… stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath.’

Even though your limbs may not carry you beyond your own front door, through prayer you can limit Satan’s movements and defeat his best-laid plans. Through prayer you can call the forces of Heaven into any situation, anywhere, anytime, for anybody.

‘God said, ‘Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.’ (Psalm 2:8 NKJV) It’s time to move beyond our ‘bless me’ prayers and start claiming bigger things for God. ‘ ~ Bob Gass

Reflection

I need to start claiming bigger things for God! Some days do not feel like a victory to me, but really, just being able to wake and serve God is more than enough.

‘What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ’ ~ Philippians 3:8.

Walking in Faith

There are many teachings that interpret the bible incorrectly. Some of these teachings are when you become a Christian all your problems are over, this simply is not true (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). A second false teaching is all the problem you’ll ever encounter are addressed in the Bible – this is not true either. One thing is certain, God does tell us many things in His Word, but He still requires us to ‘walk by faith, not by sight.’

Walking by faith and not by sight means being ready to receive guidance from His Word, from the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and the counsel of godly friends.

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

For the greater good

Even beginning to understand and know God’s love for me is incomprehensible. I once heard that if it was just us, you and I on earth, God would have still sent His Son Jesus to save the world! This is true, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) These are a few verses which speak of God’s greatness and sovereignty which when reflected on brings profound peace and satisfaction deep within.

God knows my every day before I even live it. In fact, He has a plan and a purpose, planned down to the finest detail as we read in Matthew 8:29-30, Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

As I read scripture today I’ve been convicted of the fact there are things that I do not even understand about my life. Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis is one of them! But, I accept it, and I’m thankful that in spite of all that has happened, God has me in the palm of His hands and has healed me in Jesus name.

“I will not forget you. I have written your name on the palms of my hands. ” ~ Isaiah 49:15-16.

Don’t give up go Through

When King David and his men returned home from battle, they discovered the Amalekites had burned down their homes and taken their families prisoner. They were devastated. They wept until they’d no tears left. Then God spoke to them and said, ‘Pursue…overtake…and…recover all.’ And with His help they did. Maybe the situation you’re in right now looks bad, but, don’t give up. It’s okay to have a cry if you need to, but then draw on God’s strength and face your problems head-on.

Take it one step at a time, always drawing on His strength and not your own. Paul wrote: ‘Let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint’ (Galatians 6:9 AMP). God won’t give up on you, so don’t give up on Him. He’s already promised: ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God’ (Isaiah 43:2-3 NIV).

Don’t give up – go through. Giving up is easy, but it takes faith to go through. When your faith honours God, He honours your faith. And with Him on your side you’ll come out stronger.
