About
I am a Townsville-based IT professional with 17 years of professional experience across infrastructure, cloud platforms, education technology, cyber security, systems administration and practical technology leadership. This includes seven years operating as a sole trader, followed by roles across Queensland Government education and independent schools.
My work has ranged from running a local IT support business through to state-wide education technology support, school infrastructure planning, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration, network design, endpoint management, security review work and community-sector governance. Since October 2024, I have worked as IT Manager at The Cathedral School of St Anne & St James.
I care most about technology that is secure, explainable and maintainable. The best systems are not just technically capable; they help people make better decisions, reduce avoidable risk and keep doing the work they are there to do. I am still actively developing my skills and depth, particularly across security, infrastructure leadership, cloud governance and the practical realities of supporting complex school and community environments.
My cyber security experience has developed through hands-on infrastructure and technology leadership rather than a single dedicated cyber security qualification. It is supported by continuing professional development through Charles Sturt University, LinkedIn Learning, the Australian Computer Society and other industry training. I continue to build this capability through practical work, self-directed learning and portfolio projects across identity, cloud governance, endpoint security, networks and operational resilience.
Current focus
- Leading and improving school technology foundations at The Cathedral School, including infrastructure, service delivery, security, cloud platforms, endpoint management and operational planning.
- Building Suburban Secure, a focused service from Suburban Australia that helps small-to-medium businesses, churches, charities, schools and community organisations improve cyber security, cloud governance and technology foundations.
- Serving community organisations through practical governance, technology planning, systems improvement and security-focused implementation.
Experience snapshot
Education technology
In October 2024, I commenced as IT Manager at The Cathedral School, supporting a complex independent school environment with responsibility across infrastructure, service delivery, cloud platforms, cyber security, device management, networking, vendor coordination and long-term technology planning.
Before that, I worked in regional and North Queensland state school environments, supporting ICT infrastructure planning, wireless and telephony projects, endpoint management, Microsoft Intune, Apple School Manager, ServiceNow processes, vendor coordination and practical guidance for school-based technology staff.
Community and governance
I have served with Northreach Community Care and Northreach Baptist Church in governance and technology-focused roles, including infrastructure improvement, Microsoft 365 administration, SSO, network management, AV support, CCTV, monitoring, endpoint security and operational documentation.
Suburban Australia
Suburban Australia began as local technology support work and has evolved into practical digital projects, systems integration and security-minded technology advice. Its dedicated service line, Suburban Secure, focuses on helping organisations improve Microsoft 365 security, network foundations, device management, online platforms, data governance and cyber resilience without unnecessary complexity.
